About The Founder

greg gillespie

Beginning his career as a freelance illustrator, Greg Gillespie set out in 1982 after graduating from the prestigeous Randwick College for Graphic Design, working for Tony Dunford Studios in North Sydney. Creating many highly realistic airbrush illustrations for such names as Coca-Cola, IBM, Optus, Intel, Microsoft, Toyota and many more fortune 500 companies, Greg's career began to flourish.

In the early 1990's Greg began to work with oils and attended the Royal Art Society in Kirrabilly studying portrature. Entering many competitions with and winning various awards through out Australia. Greg has won awards both nationally and internationally. Gaining a highly coveted Caxton award in New York in the early 1990's.

Recently Greg's love of animals especially dogs, was inspired when his 10 year old daughter Chloe, asked him to paint a portrait of "Waffle", a spritely little maltese shitzu cross, their family pet. Then the whole idea of doing this for other pet lovers sprang to life and My Pet Painted was born.

Greg's background as a commerical artist covers a broad range of experience, from Airbrush Illustration, Oil Painting, Freehand Drawing, Life Drawing, Photo Retouching, Web Design, 3D Animation and Photoshop Expertise. During the years as a commericail illustrator it was there that Greg learned that in order to create artwork that people would pay good money, for it had to be not only good but the very best. Advertising agencies have incredibly high expectations and it is on this stone that Greg cut his skills. He rose up to be one of the best Australian illustrators specialising in Airbrush realism. You can see more of Greg's work by clicking here to go to his commerical art website.

Greg Gillespie, is also famous for creating the wonderful artwork for the Great Australian Jigzaw Puzzle.
His lovely native animals and flora adorn this puzzle that held the record for Australia's No#1 best selling jigsaw of all time.
